panamajoe
I´m really interested in these nifty AV-mods some people here do to their Colecovisions... and i´d like to know if it can also be done to a PAL machine? Is there even anyone out there who might do this for me, as i´m not very handy with a soldering iron and prefer to shell out some $$ to get my Coleco fixed... ten-four
Hi panamajoe... I give up, i try this for many years now, and nothing of all these projects are working probably. My last try was a schematic from Hans Otten (MSX) as you can see in my other topic in the Hardware section. A PAL version is different from NTSC, and many people say it's better with a PAL and the real RGB. The nearest -was from Telegames in UK in mid 80's. See picture in my gallery. AussieAtari
I modded my PAL CV for A/V and it works fine. I used a mod kit I bought from the US that works with any CV, trouble is I cannot remember where I bought the mod from You can always try Ben Heck's mods........ ten-four
Hi Aussieatari. Maybe your Mod's from Viking Video Games, or 8 bit domain ! Ben Heck and A1k0n have i also try on. A PAL RF box is an Astec 1285 for almost Europe, and are not mounted on the main-board. In PAL are the RF in the left side in ColecoVision. The signals are not the same as NTSC. I have 2 ColecoVision, and no one of them wil take affect the colors, only black and white. Ben Heck have made an incoder that can convert the signals from arcade pcb to a normal Tv. I wrote to his site for a while ago, but i never get an answer. The Mod you have in your ColecoVision, how do it look like, and do it have a chip ? I know it can be done, because my first ColecoVision was Modded by TeleGames in 1986 or 87. It never works properly, but the colors was there
AussieAtari
You're right, my conversion comes from 8-bit domain. Ben Heck has a CV A/V conversion on his site that picks up straight off the feeds into the rf modulator, not after it so it should be independant on video format.
