SAVETHEPAST
I just bought these ROM Chips and PCB boards. Anybody know what they were originally used for? Out of the 43 chips all but 5 work on my Atari 2600. I figured that somebody just made the kit to use at home. One of the PCB's has a switch that says 16/32 some of the chips only play on the 16 and some only on the 32. The Intel chip dates range from 1977 - 1980 and the NEC chips have no dates that I was able to decipher. Anybody have any useful info about what exactly these are? They seem to be all normal common games. I haven't had a chance to play them all, just put them in to see if they worked. I'm not sure if there are any difference in the original games and the ones I have. The ones I have compared seem to have the same opening screen. I listed what was written on each chip below. 1. Super Breakout 2. Back Gammon 3. Yars Revenge 4. War Lords 5. Spider Man 6. Defender 7. Checkers 8. Dragster 9. Pac Man 10. Fantastic Voyage 11. Mega Mania 12. Golf 13. Star Wars 14. Spider Fighter 15. Gun Sling 16. Donkey Kong 17. M. Network Baseball 18. Commando Raid 19. Pin Ball 20. Chess 21. Berserk 22. Night Driver 23. Video Olympic 24. Pitfall 25. G Prix 26. Space Caverns 27. Skiing 28. Frogger 29. Othello 30. Star Master 31. Street Racer 32. Missle Command 33. Demon Attack 34. Raquetball 35. Worm Wars 1 36. Boxing 37.Night Driver 38. Atlantis 39. Space Invaders 40. River Raid 41. Chopper Command 42. Carnival
Retro Rogue
Yes, that's a pretty common hack (I have one as well) normally done by ex-employees (where I got mine from) to run production rom sets they pilfered at the time. A trick sometimes as well during that time period was to remove the rom and return the cartridge to the store as defective, keeping them to run in a setup like that. A trivia piece, but nothing ultra valuable. Edited September 3, 2007 by wgungfu
