Cleaning the card contacts

What is the best way to clean those filthy contacts from the Lynx game cards.

 

I have my Pit Fighter game inserted, but I keep on seeing a flashing message, Insert Game.

Or is it really possible that the data on a card can be corrupted?

i use a rubber (pencil eraser) works a treat and brings up the contacts nice and shiny

I usually just use isopropyl alcohol and a tissue.In the "field" or on a trip saliva and a tissue works in a pinch.The Lynx cart port may also be some or all of your problem too.For this you need one of the universal cart cleaners from Game Stop and etc.Or you can make your own from Lexan sheet that is long enough and in Lynx cart width.Then you need some thin real or fake chamois bonded to one or both sides and at one or both ends of the Lexan(if you like).This might be more than you want to go through.
