+atari2600land
I want to say the other place that had the Lynx was "Best" over on Lancaster, formerly Jafco... wow.. does anybody remember Jafco? Oh man, I had to google it and got a reminder how cool it was to be a kid in the 80's http://www.retrojunk.com/details_commercial/205/ I remember Best. My grandparents used to take me there sometimes. I think that's where I got that Super Mario Bros. mini pinball machine. I remember spending hours in my grandparent's den playing that thing during the summer when I wasn't in school, writing down my best scores. Now the question is, does anyone remember Smith's (formerly Nico)? This site has tons of ads for Smiths, including one I donated (the '93 one.) Trip_Cannon
Yes I do remember Smith's! Out on Portland Road... it turned into the Public Library for awhile and then turned into what it is today... the new flea market... Wow.. how quickly things change.... That website truly rocks! Here's another good one I found: http://kptv.home.comcast.net/~kptv/
thomasholzer
They were around but tended to be squeezed out by the Nes and Master Systems. I can only recall one tv advert which was shown rarely with the bulk of adverts being in mags and comics but when compared to the Game Gear and Game Boy it severly lagged behind the opposition I never saw nes' in shops as a kid, although i remember seeing everything else under the sun.. CPC, ST, Amiga, SMS and even Speccy! Although the only place i remember seeing lynx or jaguars was in tandy. My guess is tandy must have bought stock before EB got their hands on them. That's because whilst the NES cleaned up in USA and Japan, it was a dead dodo in most of Europe (Barely 1.5 million European sales by 92 (Game Over the book)) Edited November 21, 2007 by thomasholzer
MausGames
I remember seeing reading about them in a lot of gaming magazines, and seeing tv ads. I wanted one, but I didn't know anyone who had one. What I remember about the ads were a game with a guy carrying a large gun running down a dark tunnel shooting round aliens, and a surfing game. I think they made a big deal about being able to turn it upside down or something like that. It was too expensive for me, and I wasn't as tempted by at as the gameboy because I'd never seen a Lynx, in our out of a store, but I could play a demo gameboy at almost every store. Atari5200
only store I remember seeing Lynx or Jag stuff in was Kay-Be toys and Toys R Us. I had the chance one time to buy a Turbo Duo in Toys R us when they were closing them out for $50, passed on it as I was young at the time and spent my money on something else, now I wish I hadn't.
