NinjaWarrior
Will this come out for the 7800
Lord Helmet
It will if you code it
birdie3
Why do I get the strange feeling that someone is coding it as we speak?
Tempest
There *may* be a 7800 Tempest prototype out there. I've seen it listed on an Atari memo at 15% complete. Tempest

To the best of my knowlege no one is doing that. Tempest

Heck, I've heard that the 2600 can use two of the Genesis controlpad buttons but there's no 2600 game that can use that extra button. Tempest
Your best bet would be to hack a driving controller into a spinner... Tempest
Danno
Somebody could use Kenfused's Trak-Ball code from Centipede TB as a basis for Tempest 7800 spinner control. Hell, you could code it to work with just the left/right spinner from a 2600 CX-22/80 Trak-Ball and the fire button. That way, no one would need to make custom controllers, just use an existing Trak-Ball.
Bakasama
Your best bet would be to hack a driving controller into a spinner... Tempest If the gas button on the driving controller works the same way as the regular fire button, then that's very much doable. All I need to do is find the value of that resistor in Ohms for the second fire button.
NinjaWarrior
Yeah, Just hack a driving controller...Tempest only had 1 Button anyways
jaybird3rd
Why would it be necessary to "hack" a driving controller? Since the 7800 is compatible with 2600 peripherals, couldn't the driving controller just be used as-is?

Since the 7800 is compatible with 2600 peripherals, couldn't the driving controller just be used as-is? Well, if you "hacked" a Tempest logo on it, you could probably sell it for $30. Bakasama
Didn't the arcade version of Tempest use two buttons. One is fire and the other one is the super zapper. Hence the need to hack a driving controller to add the second fire button. Edited December 12, 2007 by Bakasama
Feralstorm
Maybe (for a stock driving controller) the firing could just be constant. Not like there's much reason to NOT shoot in a game of Tempest anyway. Edited December 12, 2007 by Feralstorm
shadow460
I'd use the fire button on the right joystick for the Super Zapper, and hand off the Driving Controller to the next player when his turn comes.
PacManPlus
um... aren't we putting the cart before the horse here? As of now Tempest doesn't exist for the 7800... and a 15% complete Prototype (even if it is found) I would believe is nowhere near playable... Bob, your right it would probably be nothing more than skeleton code.
