First game you've ever owned

I think the first game was Pac-Man. But this was not my game, more for the family. We have more games. But as child I think I have buy me Jungle Hunt, after I have play it in a casino (? in german it calls Spielhalle, don't know how it calls in english).

 

And as I start again, I can't remember, which I buy first?

If I remember this right we got a sears 6 switch (my Grandmother worked at sears and we got a discount.) I still remember it cost 148.99 It was mine and my brothers Christmans gift. In addition to the combat in it, I got Adventure,bowling and breakout. (My mother loved breakout and that is how we convinced her to get the system) That was my birthday gift too (THough My mom got me Astroids on my B day and "Santa" brought Mistle command that year)

I think Spielhalle translates into play hall or game room literally in English. It's probably what we call an arcade because 'casino' in the US is more for adults not kids and has gambling tables (poker, roulette) and slot machines for wasting your money

I'm 32 and my memory sucks. I can't remember when ,how or where I got my 2600. My best guess would be Christmas 1981 or 82. I think that either Combat or Pacman was the pack in game.

My first game would have been Mario Bros. for nintendo back in...87? Got it for christmas it was the pack in game with the nintendo Mario/Duck Hunt/Track and Field.

 

 

I remember how hooked my parents got on playing mario, they'd stay up until midnight playing mario. Those were the good days until someone broke into the house and attempted to steal both of our Nintendos (found the other one under a bush on the side of the house).

The first three 2600 games I ever owned were Stampede, Seaquest, and Pitfall.

 

I didn't have a 2600 growing up.. but Santa gave me a Colecovision the winter it was released.

 

So one day in early spring 1985 I'm shopping at Zellers with Mom... I ask her if I can go look at the Colecovision games, and she happily obliges.

 

I didn't find too many games, but they had a big rack of Atari stuff.. all for sale. On one of the shelves, I saw a box with "Colecovision" written on it... so I pick it up.

 

I read the box.. it allows you to play Atari games on a Colecovision! I didn't even know such a device existed... but I was thrilled, as I had played some games on my Uncle Ron's Atari Computer (a VCS, but I called it an Atari Computer.. I was , so I knew it had some great games. I look at the price sticker.. only 13 dollars.. MARKED DOWN FROM 65!!!

 

So I rush to get my mom, and ask her if I can have it. She's amazed at how low all the prices were.. she had no idea there was a crash. She tells me that not only can I have the system changer, but I can pick up a few games that I think my sister and I would like, as they're all about 5 or 6 dollars each.

 

I went through all the boxes.. as I recall, I think it was just a big pile of Activision games. I find 3 that looked interesting.. Pitfall, Seaquest and Stampede. My Mom actually asked me if I wanted any more, but I didn't want to seem greedy so I said no.. who knows what I passed up!

 

Although Zellers was only a 10 minute drive from our house, that car ride seemed to take forever! I ran inside to show my sister our good fortune.. we played the heck out of those games.. well, until we got a Commodore 64, then the Colecovision didn't get much use.

 

The odd thing was, I distinctly recall Pitfall being my least favorite of the three games.. I still played a lot of it, but I wasn't as into it as the other two. I didn't think I'd ever find a game I liked more than Ladybug for the Colecovision, but Seaquest managed to top it!

Pole Position II for the 7800 and Asteroids for the 2600. I got the 7800 as my first system for Christmas (whcih came with PPII obviously) and I also recieved Asteroids for the 2600 that very same day.

My 2600 I got for christmas '80 came with Combat and I also received

Casino and Home Run with it.

Well... hmm....

 

The NES wasn't originaly mine... it was more of a family thing at first... so I'll say that Sonic 2 for Genesis was the first game I ever owned a copy of.

 

First Atari 2600 game by the way is Astroblast... it was sticking out of my 2600 when I got it at goodwill a few months ago.

this had been a while but i believ i got my first system in 80 i was 9 combat came with it them my first 2 was asteroids then missile command i believe then adventure

I then purchased Adventure.

 

22 years and thousands of video games later...Adventure is still my favorite.

Combat came with our first 2600, a Sunnyvale 6-switch. I think the first game we bought separately was Air Sea Battle.

...in that order. I remember the first time the Atari was switched on in my house. My whole family sat on the couch, and played Slot Racers against each other. We all had fun, but a week later my parents had dismissed Atari, and never touched another video game since.

wow... my first and only cart I've ever had where one 8-1 multicart (stampede, bowling, fishing dervy, freeway, combat, and I don't remember more), 4-1 (enduro, pitfall, frogger and river raid) another 4-1 (jawbreker, chopper command, laser blast and basketball) and a 2-1 (pele's soccer and volley ball) later one my grand ma got me another 8-1 with activision tennis, video chess and I don't remember the other ones) Exchange carts among friends was very common (I'm from a small town)

I bought my 2600 4-switch second hand from a video rental store. I got Combat and Asteroids with it. And I bought Raiders of The Lost Ark on the side.

 

I remeber my dad was mildly amused at the idea of me buying an new video game. Since I already had a Mark III console so why should I buy another one he thought. So I actually hid the 2600 from him for a while
