What is a SNES power supply? Anything others PS work with SNES?

Recommended Posts

Hi, this is a weird question I know, so let me explain. Someone has offered to give me a SNES and Super Mario World. That's it, no controller, no power supply, no video cable. I want to get into collecting for the SNES, but since they dont even know if the system works, I am wondering if anything else I have can be used as a power supply? Like maybe a 8bit disk drive power supply which works with the NES? Can I pick up a snes power supply someplace cheap? Any help is appreciated. I just want to see if this thing works good and then if it does I will buy a controller and start collecting games. I already have a N64 collection with an extra video cable.

There's a universal power supply unit you can find on eBay and Amazon.com for the US SNES systems, which works on NES, SNES, and Genesis systems.

The trouble I'm having is finding a compatible power supply unit for a PAL-compatible SNES system. The universal power supply unit I bought from eBay doesn't fit into its power jack.

So will a NES power supply work with a SNES? If this is so, then I should be able to use a Atari 1050 disk drive power supply and or A400 power supply with the SNES (since I understand these workwith the NES) I know I have one or the other around here someplace. I really want to test this thing before I go buying power supplies if there is a realistic way I can.
