Pull the unit apart and try re-melting the solder points on the reset switch. The reset switch takes lots of abuse and over time the solder connectios can crack. Simply re-melting them often solves the problem.
A.J. Franzman
The other common reason for the switches to not work reliably is due to dirt and/or dried grease on the contacts. Fortunately, the front panel switches are open at the ends so can easily be cleaned with a cotton swab and some alcohol -- just wipe the contacts you can reach with a wet swab, then slide the switch the other way (and hold if necessary) and wipe the other contacts, then slide the switch back and forth several times. Don't worry about replacing any grease you may have removed; the switches don't need it and will stay working longer without it.
