Donkey Kong Easter Egg

After playing Donkey Kong on my 800XL tonight (level 7 is insane BTW), I was reminded about something Landon once told me when I asked him about programming Donkey Kong. He said that there is an easter egg in DK but he didn't remember how to trigger it (something about dying on a certain level with a certain score).

 

From what I've been able to gather, despite the fact that the easter egg has been known to exist for years now, no one has been able to find it. According to Landon the source code was supposedly very well commented, so I was wondering if anyone had ever attempted to disassemble it and see if they could find the easter egg. I think Landon told me that it wasn't very impressive and that it only made his initials appear up in the scoring area somewhere, but it would be really neat to see.

 

So does anyone want to look into the source code and see what they can find? IT MUST BE FOUND!

I don't think the source code has been released.

 

Anyone can make a disassembly, but that doesn't help much since of course you don't have the comments or labels from the original.

 

I think I remember reading about it, probably here. Wasn't it something in the conveyer-belt level you had to do?
