Pitfall Harry
...until now. I couldn't find a lick of information about the Pitfall board game made by Milton Bradley in 1983. So I created a couple of pages for those who may be interested. Pitfall - The Board Game Ben

Pitfall Harry
The Saturday Supercade was a 1-hour block of cartoons based on poplar video games of the time such as Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr, Frogger, Kangaroo, Pitfall!, and Q*bert. It aired on CBS on Saturday mornings in 1983 and 1984. Not all of the cartoons were featured each Saturday. Rather, selected cartoons of the set were rotated into the weekly lineup based on popularity. Apparently, Pitfall! was the least popular cartoon in the Supercade lineup, as it was featured in the fewest episodes. Pitfall! and Frogger were both dropped in the second season, replaced by Space Ace and Kangaroo. The Pitfall board game was produced by Milton Bradley, but Activision retained all rights to their trademarked Pitfall! characters. Although the printing on the box reads, "As seen on the Saturday Supercade Television Show," the board game really has nothing to do with it. It is based entirely on the Pitfall! videogame. Activision put the plug in for the TV show only because they received royalties whenever their Pitfall cartoon segment was aired. Activision's cross-marketing plug failed, as neither the cartoon nor the board game was popular. Pitfall! was dropped from the Saturday Supercade lineup at the end of the first season after only seven episodes were aired. The board game disappeared from store shelves almost as quickly and is very hard to find today. The board game itself is rather fun to play, featuring a nice variety of player move decisions, colorful graphics and a strong connection to the gameplay of the original Atari 2600 videogame. However, Milton Bradley shot the game in the foot by manufacturing Pitfall with seriously low budget cardboard game pieces, typical of all the board games they produced in the 80's. Finding a complete game today with all its pieces is something of a tough trick, but definitely worthwhile to anyone who calls himself a Pitfall fanatic. tyranthraxus
Wow thanks for the info guys! I don't remember that cartoon series but it certainly sounds wacky. I'm surprised no one is selling copies of this show. Or perhaps they already are... John
