lionrohrs
A person on Ebay contacted me with an offer because they saw me bid on a game they have. I asked for contact info and a PayPal account ID. Now I checked the address and phone # on 411.com. The address and the name match but the phone # doesn't. It is listed in a different city according to the area code. Second, his PayPal ID does not match his Email address. Does anyone know how to verify that this person is who he says he is? Is there any other info I can ask to verify him? I was thinking if I send him a check it would at least verify the address. Any ideas on this is appreciated. Thanks! lonesome_pa
I wouldn't be sure how to verify them, but according to eBay, this is actually considered a trading offense. It's considered as (copied directly from eBay): "Sending spam - Sending unsolicited (without prior permission), commercial email. Examples: Sending unsolicited offers to bidders for the same or similar products that they have bid on in the past."
MrRetroGamer
If you have any doubts, I wouldn't take the chance.
Cap5750
It could be that 411 has some misinformation. But I'll agree with the others...if there's any doubt at all either don't do it, or have him create an auction with the BIN and let you know as soon as it's done. Personally, anyone that sends me anything through e-bay gets reported (by me) as spam. If you want me to buy your product, put it on e-bay. If it's atari related, I'll see it as I generally glace through the entire Atari section once or twice a week. If it has nothing to do with Atari, then leave me the heck alone! I've had a couple of people contact me this way and got some good deals but this one has a lot of ????
CPUWIZ
Let me guess, it was this guy: http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/rolandsratrace/ He seems to only do it to people with little feedback. He probably thinks that low feedback = newbie.
