+atari2600land
So I got Blue Lightning today and played with it a little. Then, I put in After Burner for the NES and lo and behold, it's almost exactly the same game. They look so similar, is it because Tengen was in cahoots with Atari, or is it a coincidence? Gregory DG
After Burner was originally an arcade game. Blue Lightning is a ripoff of that original arcade (although it's about 100x better.) The NES game is just a direct conversion of the arcade.
A2600
I thought TENGEN was a Divison of Atari Games?? So there is no coincedence
chris_lynx1989
Tengen was a company that was OWNED by Jack Tramiel AND this was part of why Nintendo sued Tengen over their unlicensed version of Tetris for the NES in the 90s.
Gregory DG
Tengen was a company that was OWNED by Jack Tramiel AND this was part of why Nintendo sued Tengen over their unlicensed version of Tetris for the NES in the 90s. Tengen was owned by Atari Games to create home games while still keeping to their non-compete clause with Atari Inc. It was never owned by the Tramiels.
