Turok Evolution

I rented Turok today (for Gamecube), and I agree with most of the complaints I've read. The graphics are really not that great by todays standards. The water looks awful. The control is not that great, and there's only two controller setups. And the load times are HORRIBLE!! Especially for multiplayer. Each round you have to wait a *long* for the level to load, and then another insanely long time just for the main menu to load again! What were they thinking?

 

However, the levels design seems pretty good so far and it's actually pretty fun to play. Standard multiplayer seemed okay, but one thing that's pretty awesome is that there are two multiplayer levels that you can play with in flying mode! Those are a blast and something my friend and I really wish Halo had.

 

And one complaint I've been reading is that you keep getting sniped from a distance and can't tell where it's coming from. I disagree with this. You get a very high zoom crossbow at the beginning and you can easily snipe these guys, and I think this is pretty fun.

 

I say rent it, don't buy it.

I must admit, I saw a rolling demo in a games store and I had to wait for the title screen before realising that it wasn't an N64 game. Very poor.

The reviews I've read say the Cube and Xbox versions are the best. They say the XBox version has better load times and dynamic lighting, and the cube has a higher frame rate.
