moycon
Anyone check out these new Street Fighter IV controllers? Blanka = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Street-Figh...ref=pd_sim_vg_5 Chun Li = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Street-Figh...ref=pd_sim_vg_3 Ryu = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Street-Figh...ref=pd_sim_vg_2 Ken = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Street-Figh...d_bxgy_vg_img_b Akuma = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Street-Figh...d_bxgy_vg_img_b Arcade Fight Stick = http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Fighter-IV-...ref=pd_sim_vg_8 Product Description The official Street Fighter IV FightPad controller for the Xbox 360 was designed specifically for fighting game fans to put new levels of control and precision in the palms of their hands. Using an enlarged, circular 8-way floating D-Pad and a classic six-button layout, the Street Fighter IV FightPad brings the old school fighting game experience right into your home. With separate turbo settings for each button and great ergonomics, prepare yourself for hours of competition, no quarters necessary. I know some people were complaining about the crap d-pad on the 360 controllers. Maybe these will be a decent substitute?? It doesn't say if it is wireless or not though and I couldn't find any additional information on other sites (including the Mad Catz site) that mentioned if it was or not. I'm assuming they aren't especially after seeing this video of the arcade stick cracked open. There's a brief shot of the Chun-Li game-pad and it's wired. http://www.destructoid.com/ces-2009-street...en-117539.phtml Edited January 11, 2009 by moycon
AtticGamer
It's a brilliant idea and design, pity it's made by Madcatz.
yuppicide
I wouldn't exactly say brilliant idea and design. It's just an arcade joystick in a better layout. Nothing special, but yes too bad Madcatz suck. The Hori stick is much nicer I think and I believe they make arcade parts, so it should be good: http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arcade...7508&sr=1-1 It's a brilliant idea and design, pity it's made by Madcatz. keilbaca
Those D-pads look like crap. They use the same crap in all of their controllers, and its hard to pull off a dragon punch with that kind of d-pad. I'm sure someone will come up a mod to make the d-pad amazing. At any rate, they look great, and I'm sure it won't take a lot for it to work for them to play fantastic. I'm getting one, if anything, for the xbox live arcade. DaytonaUSA
Btw, I have one of those street fighter ps2 pads that look almost identical to these except it had a holographic image on it. If I got one of those adapters for my ps3, I should be able to use my Ryu PS2 controller instead, right? I used to use that thing every once in a while when I played Street Fighter 3 on my Dreamcast since I had a controller adapter for it
moycon
The Hori stick is much nicer I think and I believe they make arcade parts, so it should be good: I have the Hori stick, it's not as great as I thought it would be based on what I heard. The very fact that you can easily mod the Mad Catz arcade stick (did you watch the video?) would mean if it did suck balls, it would be super easy to replace parts with whatever you wanted. The game pads I couldn't tell you, I haven't seen even one review yet so I imagine it would be hard to say if they suck right now without just being a negative Nancy. Atariboy
Moycon, I think he was referencing Hori's upcoming arcade stick, which appears to be of a different design. I don't think anyone liked the DOA/VF stick after using it... The DOA/Virtua Fighter one was pretty sucky, mine has only been used a few times. I don't think anyone liked the DOA/VF stick after using it... The DOA/Virtua Fighter one was pretty sucky, mine has only been used a few times. I didn't have the DOA/VF stick. I have the EX2 Fighting Stick 360 version. So let me get this straight. Hori's made at least 3 recent arcade sticks that are sucky but this new Street Fighter one is going to be good? Why would one assume this? For those interested..here is the Hori stick. http://sdtekken.com/tech-area/arcade-stick...cade-stick-360/ It should be noted it looks very similar to there other Hori sticks except the guide etc... buttons are along the top now. A definite improvement if people were accidentally hitting the buttons along the bottom, although I never played with my old Hori enough to worry about accidentally hitting the buttons at the bottom and what little I did play with it, I never hit them. I noticed some people reviews of the past Hori stick mention they are difficult to modify. I wonder if that's changed? Cobra Kai
The TE madcatz stick (the $150 version) is getting rave hands-on reviews, I'm thinking about getting that one, plus the CE of SF4. Alot of loot though.
yuppicide
The team at X-Arcade are working on trying to get an adapter to use their products on a 360, but Microsoft are dicks about it. You can read here: http://www.xgaming.com/xbox-360-arcade.shtml This sucks. Seems to me this has been an issue for years though. I recall looking into the X-Arcade sticks for the 360 in like 2007 and they had this same thing so I wouldn't hold my breath.
moycon
Just curious if anyone got a hold of the controllers I first posted links to. I would be interested in hearing a review of them and their worth.
16-bit
Gamespot seemed to like them, but they only mention it briefly in one of their prerelease reviews. "...we met up with Capcom at CES and got our paws on a near-final version of the game. And we got a whole lot out of our time with it, since we were able to use all the new characters and also play the new Challenge mode. Better still, we played using the upcoming Mad Catz fightpad and arcade sticks, which seemed fantastic." full article is here: http://www.gamestop.com/Browse/ArticleView...articleid=61913 I'm assuming they're referring to both with the "fantastic". I would love to get one. It'd be just like playing SF back on the old Genesis 6-button controller (or close enough to it). The only problem is finding one. I didn't pre-order and I've been to all the local Gamestops and they're sold out. From what one of the guys told me yesterday they didn't get in any more than what was pre-ordered and he wasn't sure if they were getting more. Now it's not even showing up on their website. Lord Helmet
Looks like for the price the Hori stick may be the way to go...I'm gonna pick a stick up either way. I'm ready to get back into fighting games again...
Tempest
If they ever release Marvel vs Capcom 2 on Xbox Live Arcade then I'll pick one of these sticks up, otherwise it's not worth the price for one game. Tempest
keilbaca
I just finally finished off my stick... and it works fantastic. The second stick is a 4 way... perfect for root beer tapper It looks crude, but the control panel is the same size as a Blasteroids arcade control panel (thus the two holes on top of the stick), and the thing doesn't budge at all when you yank it hard to pull off super/ultra moves. If you don't use your X-Arcade stick on anything else, you can do the same exact mod. I also have a SF Anniversary stick that has died, that I plan on modding to work on the 360 also. All I used was a MadKatz cheap 360 stick for $25.

MetalSlime23
I have the Chun Li game pad controller for the PS3. I like it, though I use it mostly to play the Genesis collection game that came out a couple of weeks ago. The controller feels nice, and I like the D pad. STICH666
Others say the SF controllers for the PS2 and this one are the same but they are completely different. I used the Akuma pad and it works really well. The only thing is the D-pad could be much better. I would like to see a NeoGeo style thumb nub again. 2600Lives
Has anybody actually tried the joypads out? (not the arcade sticks, just the Madcatz pad). I'd like to hear some feedback. I've been playing with the stock 360 pad, and yeah, it sucks donkey balls. If nothing else, it'll be nice to have the 3X3 button layout on the face of the pad, and I'll just adjust to the shitty d-pad.
