kisrael Posted September 12, 2002 Share Posted September 12, 2002 According to http://cube.ign.com/articles/370/370713p1.html (though I think that's a subscriber "IGNsider" only link) Microsoft is buying Rare, after Nintendo declined to buy Rare (after already owning a 49% share of them) last year. For a Nintendo fanboy like me, this is pretty dismal news. They didn't say if Rare will be mostly or exclusively doing Xbox only titles or not, but obviously that would suck, a lot. The silver lining of this dark cloud might be that Nintendo plans to use the money from the sale to help make the GameCube friendlier with other 3rd party developers.
