How to get past the "key" icon with fb 2

Recommended Posts

The initial screen should be a picture of a castle (styled after the game Adventure) which does have a key next to it on the right.

There should be "Atari Flashback 2" at the top of the screen and a single menu choice at the bottom of the screen. I think it says "Adventure Territory".

Moving the joystick and pressing the fire button is all that should be needed to navigate the menus. With the joystick plugged in to the player 1 port (on the left, I think) when looking from the front of the machine, you should be able to get to the games.

If you have that screen, but nothing happens, you may have a bad joystick or an FB2.

If you don't have that screen on power up, it's probably a broken FB2. Any way you can post a picture?

[Edit]: Does the screen look like this?

That's Mr. Colbert's work. I seem to recall there being more detail about it on his site. I think it's the best FB2 hack I've seen. He's done quite a few cool retro gaming things.

[Edit]: Yep, here's more on his FB2 hack: http://members.cox.net/rcolbert/Flashback.htm

There are other interesting things on his site worth looking at: http://members.cox.net/rcolbert

Hi, I recently bought a FLashback 2 and set it up, but there is a key icon on the screen and I can't seem to get past it. Is there some kind of code i need. I looked in the online manual, but didn't find anything.

You may be playing Adventure. :) If so, turn it off and on again.

In the menu, use the player 1 joystick to move the menu selection and button to select the game. If that doesn't work, make sure the joysticks are plugged in fully.
