Which power cord for which machine?

It has been a while since my atari has been plugged in and now I can't remember which cord goes with the computer and which goes with the disk drive. The computer is a 1200xl. The drive is an 810. The one cord I have near this computer is: 120 vac, 60 hz, 20w, 2681J, 9 vac, 15.3va

The other one is also 120vac, but then it goes 60hz, 50w, 9v ac, 31 va

Yes, absolutely, the 9V AC 31 VA PSUs are needed for Atari FDDs. Of course, they will also power the 400/800 and apparently the 1200, but the 15.3 VA of the other PSU are far too low for any FDD.

BTW: the first voltage on the PSU is the wall current, that's why it's always the same.

Yeah, and I think atari eventually switched the desktops to the larger supply too... so, if you do any mods to the computer (re: add to it's power needs), you should upgrade from that PS (its low powered for even the computer).

I need my dh to translate for me...

What do you recommend for the computer?

If you ever add anything extra to the computer (memory, ide2sio, or other upgrades) I'd buy the same model you use for the floppy to use for the computer also. The floppy power supply has a model # on the bottom. They sell them on ebay. No rush if you have no upgrades.
