spudmanno5
Hi After finally getting a Atari 800 PSU from myatari.com i discover that it has a non UK plug! Even tho i ordered a UK one!!! PRA001E POWER 800/1200XL/810/1050/XF551 220 VAC 20.00 It is an official Atari one and has written on there: Ein: 220v~37W 50Hz Aus: 9v~27VA So will this work if i used a plug converter? regards
mimo
Sounds like you got sent a German PSU Just cut off the Euro 2pin plug and fit a UK 3 pin plug and you are good to go. IIRC they only have Live and Earth, no Neutral connection.
Sub(Function(:))
Sounds like you got sent a German PSU Just cut off the Euro 2pin plug and fit a UK 3 pin plug and you are good to go. IIRC they only have Live and Earth, no Neutral connection. Or as spudmanno5 mentioned just get a EU to UK plug converter. Saves the messy wiring, I always hated wiring UK plugs The EU and the UK unified the mains power supply to 230 Volts (good old european compromise ). Back in 1979 the UK was on 240V and Europe 220V hence the 220Volt on the PSU. I guess the unit will run a little over 9V AC but as I remember the 400/800 power brick is just a transformer the regulation is done in the computer. So I guess it should handle extra .5 volt. As I remember I was still able to use my 400 when the UK supply dropped 10 Volts on the supply side, nor do I remember the continental europeans having any problems. Rybags
The PSU for the 400/800 is interchangable with the one for the 810 disk drive, isn't it?
