i dont want to change the subject, but whats stopping him from making another account? no one would ever know it was him if he chooses a completly different name. unless you do something with the computer address or whatever its called so it can be identified right away, i think something like that can be done, but then again, im by no means a computer expert

*Edit - nevermind, don't want to give the guilty party any new ideas.

It wouldn't matter. Even if they did what they needed to do to not be detected instantly, they would still be found out soon enough. Everyone inherently has their own personalities and writting style that gives them away.

Often IP address, and if they manage to go under the radar for a while, quite often other people notice similarities in posting habits with known banned members...

Alright, I'm confused here. So this guy tried to underhand the seller and got caught or some shite. Then what happened? What exactly did he do here (other than what I saw mentioned about starting a new account)?

He has used the forums here to send harassing PMs to people, and has been using AA as a stepping stone to harass people on eBay, as we saw with this seller's auction.

Yeah, it's not like he would start a new account and then come in here to have a pleasant conversation over a cup of tea. His true nature would soon reappear.

Guys and Gals,

Don't know what to tell you but the truth and that's what happened. I had someone email me off of Ebay and offer me $5,000 for the game right now and if I got the box and instructions another $5,000. I haven't had time to look for the box and instructions and don't believe that they will be found as my parents bought this for us 25+ years ago, if not 35+.

Everyone I've told about this situation has really gotten a kick out of it and I'm merely holding onto it because it's kind of cool to have something like that - even though I'll freely admit I wouldn't dare have the passion/enthusiasm, etc. that many of you have for the game - it's just a cool thing to have.

It's locked away in a secure/climate controlled area now and if my kids sell it in 10 or 20 years and only get $500 for the game, so be it. It's not that big of a deal to me personally and all of the ruckus/fuss that was created over it certainly wasn't worth it to me.

Thanks!

I hate to say it so I won't. Yes I will. I told ya so. When some harrass the seller they get pissed when their Email or PM box gets blown up. Bye cougar302b. Thanks for being one, I am pretty sure, of many who ruined a chance at me blowing my tax return on one single item. :x :D

Once that wall between one overeager bidder and seller is broken, it becomes an unstoppable flood of shenanigans that is hell to deal with. I wouldn't want to be the seller in any of these situations, and as often is the case, once the seller is contacted the sale often collapses.

Since this fiasco began I've watched two other auctions with rare games "disappear" into the ether of early auction terminations. No doubt both disappearances began with clicking "Ask seller a question..."
