AtticGamer
I do not want to deal with multiple machines, particularly the NES and battery saves dying, so, would you reccomend the NES Classics and other GBA rereleases or the Virtual Console versions? The GBA versions are a little changed but there is a physical cartridge at least (and can be played on GB Player). The VC games are true and upscaled however. Wickeycolumbus
AFAIK, the GBA and VC versions are the exact same ROMs as the original NES games. You may want to go with the Virtual Console, since there is a much bigger selection.
BydoEmpire
That save state on VC is handy, too.
DaytonaUSA
...so is the bigger screen. Trust me, playing them on the GBA, you'll wish it was bigger.
godslabrat
Tough call. Much as I like the physical cart, the different screen dimensions of the GBA make me go with the pack on this one. VC, or it's just not the same game. Still, as an NES enthusiast, I can't say that the save game batteries are really a big issue.

VC, or it's just not the same game. FWIW, this is a HUGE issue. The NES had a screen resolution of 256x240. (256x224 effective) The GBA has a resolution of only 240 x 160. Something has to happen to those lost pixels. Which means that the screen either has to be squished or cropped. Neither of which is an ideal solution. jboypacman
I would say go with the Virtual Console with its save state and the fact its on a larger screen.
AtticGamer
So GBA games don't look good on GB Player for GC, is that it? Might as well go for VC then. I do have the physical games, I just wanted ones that could hold a save permanently.

What others are talking about is the resolution issue, the GBA doesn't have a 4:3 aspect ratio like televisions and NES titles have, so something has to be sacrificed to make NES titles fit the GBA's screen, which means losing lines of pixels to get the image to fit. Looks okay on a small GBA screen, but its not the ideal way to be playing them on a large screen if you care about the experience being accurate to the originals.
