eric_ruck
Anyone tried Yahoo Games on Demand yet? Anyone even know about it yet? If you have broadband it's pretty neat. Eric
oesii
I read about it a few months ago but I didn't know it was a real, live product now. Sounds pretty interesting, have you paid for some games yet? 3 day, $4 rentals sounds good for PC games, close in price to video stores. eric_ruck
Actually the game packages sound like a great deal, if you don't play more than 4 or 5 different games in a month (which sounds reasonable to me). I haven't tried the service on Yahoo, but (here comes the disclaimer, sort of) I have friends who work at the company that provides the technology and took part in the beta. I played Max Payne on their underpowered beta server, and it worked extremely well, except for an occassional glitch in the sound -- sometimes when the other characters talk to you they stutter. I'm guessing this is a buffer underflow issue, and maybe it has been fixed in the 6 months or so since I last tried it. For reference, the machine I played on as a client was a P3-500, Win98, cheap graphics card, and a cable modem. Eric
