Cybernoid
This is what I would image my dance club sounding like, lined with Atari Computers.... cybernoid.zip
emkay
The Blue Monday tune has some nice sounds in there. But the gen C and E basses are like some wall that keeps the listener away from jumping into the music. If using 2 Pokeys, it is no problem to use one at 15kHz for better bass sounds. Btw: Blue Monday ... A recording of an intermezzo. Played by New Order at the Arena intar.zip
Cybernoid
Danke. I'll try 15KHz dual pokey. I like the 15KHz bass, but I never can seem to get high toned drums like snare and hi-hat that I like in that mode. I like your intermezzo. I always loved New Order for some reason... About the Snares. Actually it is a fault of RMT, not to offer the function of switching Pokey's clocking in the envelope. It's also not possible in the patched versions, because the runtime somehow blocks the 1.79/15 clocking when filter is active.
Cybernoid
Isn't it intentional that bass tones don't have someting like 12khz in common? Hehehe. Yeah, that is true. About the Snares. I would be nicer if you could change the 1.79 or 15 clocking on a per envelope-tick level instead of per instrument. I would like to see it have several more rows under the filter row (under the envelope) for selecting other filtering/clocking options, but that might be too much processing to change during VBI. RMT is nice to be able to import mods easily, we just have to work with its limitations. I certainly can't code a great cross-platform tracker. They are all controlled by the same byte. So, it's really no additional processing necessary. If Raster decided to create a "free" Pokey mode, we could go further by less processing anyway. The additional stuff is in the memory usage for the notation tables of the different clockings. We'd need 2 tables more then. Example : RMT offers the filter feature. If you switch it on, the control of the pitches is fixed (which is a good thing) , but the filter channel is set to volume 0, and you have no chance to set volume even to 1. Particular with the "hardsynth" correction method you can use ring modulation features then, if it was possible to act on the volume of the filter channel.
