Atari freak 1
What things do I need to get my NES working close to new? I know it's the cart port that makes it so you have to keep taking the game out and in till you get it to work, but how do you get it so the power doesn't flick on and off? Also, can you give me a link to where I can buy the stuff?
ubersaurus
You'll ned a new 72 pin connector for the NES cart slot..once the new one is in you don't have to push down on the cart ot make it go anymore, so that should be just about all you need. z28in82
The blinking on/off switch has to do witht he pin connector being bad, if there isn't a sloid connection the power switch will flicker. as to where to bu a new 72 pin connector I hate to say ebay, that is where I bought both of mine. It is a very simple process to replace the connector 6 #2 Phillips screws to remove outer casing and another 6 #2 Phillips screws to be able to remove the old 72 pin connector. all told it took me half an hour to do my first on, not difficult at all. Hope this helps
Atari freak 1
Thanks guy's! It'll be great to be able to just put in the game and turn it on. I've never been able to do that in like 10 years!
z28in82
Yes, in thoery that should work 95% of the time that is the problem, but when putting the new 72 pin connector you may have to be "frim" with it to make sure it is seated properly, but you'll know if it is or not cause if not the screws won't line up properly. The only other major problem could be whether the games are clean or not, I recommend using a cleaning solution (either something store bought or rubbing alchol will work) and not really blowing on the game. Any more questions feel free to fire away P.S. I got tired if that prob myself so i just got a top-load NES and don't have that problem anymore
Atari freak 1
Yeah, I heard those top loaders are great, what makes them work so well?
z28in82
They re-designed the connectors so that they did away with the prob and it will play just about any game clean or dirty. it is alot smaller and is just more reliable.
