Arcadenut
Looking through a new mag i got' date=' i see the newest version of Defender for the new consoles...wonder how itll do? [/color'] Wow, It's Descent with the name Defender on it! Some games are just better left as 2D.
Ze_ro
Whatever that is, it's not Defender. They may call it Defender, but that's definitely not the Defender I know. Defender 2000 is Defender, but first-person will never really be Defender. However, it looks like a good game, and may perhaps be worthy to carry on the legacy... although I doubt it'll be able to outdo the original. --Zero

Atari Master
This may be news to you people but games change as time goes on. And I'm getting that game!
liveinabin
No they don't. New games and genres are released and thats all very good. BUT the game remains the same. Defender is what it was designed as, a 2d bi-directional adrenaline fix. Making Defender a 3D game may make for a good game but it isn't Defender. They should call it something else. This is a lot like, say, taking a few key phrases of a Beatles song, changing the instruments, the tune and most of the other lyrics and claiming it to be the same song. As soon as art is made, that's it.[/b]
liquid_sky
using the defendername will give it hype and credibillity moreso than trying to come out with a new franchice is my reasoning
Atari Master
How do you all know it's not the same? It might have better graphics but it could have the same concept. It could be better.

Linkin Park
It looks like a pretty good game and all, but I will not be buying it. Probably renting it, but not buying it. For two reasons: 1. It doesn't look like its worth $50 of my money I could spend on something else 2. I can play the much-better-looking original version for nothing at all! Seriously, graphix look good, but graphix aren't everything. I'd have to wait until it came out in order to talk about it more in depth. Inky
There was a second sequel to Defender, but I don't remember the name, or if the rom on MAME was prototype. Does anyone recall this? IIRC, it wasn't that spectacular... Oh it had great GFX and SFX, but it was a big so what...
AtariDude
Are you referring to Stargate or is it another game that you are referring to?
