SRGilbert
Although I'm sure it was a commercial flop in any case, I wonder why Coleco didn't make the KidVid their own thing? I guess there isn't any reason you couldn't use it with the CV expansion or the Gemini but even the box only mentions the Atari 2600. Discuss............. retroillucid
They were suposed to release it for the Colecovision Pretty much the same one as the atari model, except you have to plug a kind of module into the Expansion module slot Seeing how popular it was for the 2600, I'm sure they decided to not release it for the CV Edited December 18, 2012 by retroillucid
NIAD
Another big factor could have been the lead up to the release of the ADAM Computer. Basically a lot of in-development titles got pushed to the back-burner as Coleco focused almost all of their attention on getting the ADAM Computer ready for the '83 Holiday Season. Once the ADAM was released, then their attention turned to fixing all the issues with it, trying to save face and place a lot of their focus on releasing support software for this new system. So in the end, they probably just never got back around to the ColecoVision version of the KidVid and like Retroillucid said, they had pretty good sales figures via the Atari VCS (plenty more potential purchasers) version that probably showed that it wouldn't be the best of sellers. Too bad in the end seeing as Ralph Baer actually helped Coleco get the CV unit working. ED: think it's time to go back to a wired keyboard as wireless just misses too many keystrokes.
