Lemmings

I don't know why it's a rare game, other than it's an awesome game, and the only handheld version worth a damn (from the time)

I've played the game on many systems (nes, SMS, GG, Genesis, DMG, GBC, SNES, PC) and this is indeed one of the best versions, and really, the only portable version. Genesis, SNES, and PC are the only ones really worth getting. Oh, there's a newer PSP lemmings, not to fond of the damn loading, but it's still a great game even "3Dafied"

Graphically I'm sure the Gamegear version is just as nice looking given LCD technology was a bit crap in their time. Does the Lynx have the Amiga samples and music though seeing as it is basically the same sound chip? That would swing it for me anyway.

This is a perfect example, the Gamegear can indeed push more colors than the lynx, at a higher resolution, but as an 8 bit system, with a 10 sprite limitation, the game maxes out with only 20 lemmings and flickers like a sonofabitch (IIRC) while the Lynx pushes up to 80, with no slowdown or flicker at all. Only teh Gameboy game supports fewer lemmings, at 10 :( though to be fair, probably to reduce flickering...

Also the Lynx has much better sound and voice.

I'd love to try out Lemmings on the Lynx. But instead of spending tons of $$$ to get a copy I got a copy for my PSP on Amazon. I think including shipping I only payed $10. Awesome game and has tons of levels! I loved the game on the PC. Is the original available on the PC as freeware? anyone know?
