Number of Lynx Games Released Before "The End"

Okay, you'll have to forgive me. I'm having trouble even describing what I need, let alone being able to search for it... but it's probably already here on AA somewhere.

I'm trying to ascertain the number of Lynx titles that were released before Atari abandoned the system. It's a tricky one, since some of the Telegames titles (Bubble Trouble, Krazy Ace mini Golf, Fat Bobby, Hyperdrome, Raiden) seem to fall in gray areas. I removed those titles from this list, under the assumption they came out in 1995 or after.

I've come up with 71 titles released before "the end" in 1994.

I've come up with 73 titles released before "the end" in 1993.

Although Krazy Ace Minature Golf has a copyright date saying 1993 on the box, the game was not actually released until 1995 AFAIK. And the last two Atari-released titles Battlezone 2000 and Super Asteroids/Missile Command was of course post-1993. Also I think you should remove Bubble Trouble from that list

Yes, that's exactly what I'm looking for! Thanks. :D

Upon using Damon's year-by-year post (and your input, pushing the final year to 1994), I come up with 71 titles. (I'll change the 1st post, if Albert will allow it.)

Also, on a semi-related subject, this must mean that the Lynx was abandoned by Atari in 1994. I had assumed it was 1993, by this statement in AA's Lynx history:

...by 1993 they ceased marketing it and focused on their new console, the Jaguar.

But I guess the end of marketing doesn't necessarily mark the end of production, since they clearly had games in development they still released.

But is it safe to say that 1994 was the last of the official, in-the-lifespan Lynx game releases? Meaning, you wouldn't count Krazy Ace or Bubble Trouble on this list, right?

Thanks,

Smeg

I had a complete list once... I thought it was something more like 89? I'm talking about all public Lynx game releases, not just Atari's.

Remember, I'm only talking about the games that were released before the end of the Lynx's run in 1994/95. If you see any games missing off the list above, let me know! :)

I thought Super Asteroids/Missile Command was released in 1995. At least that's what the AA database says.

Y'know, I spent all sorts of time trying to find any mention of a year on the AA list. I finally found it, by looking at the production companies. On that list, Battlezone 2000 also came out in 95.

In fact, I see that many of the dates listed on AA differ from Damon's list. Unless Damon feels his list is more accurate than AAs, I'll probably change the dates to match AA. Damon, where did you get your info?

Thanks, everyone!

According to AA, Krazy Ace Mini Golf came out in 1993 (and the title screen shows 1992) so it clearly came out before the end.

Also, Bubble Trouble came out in 1994, according to AA. The title screen has 1993 copyright date. So, I suppose that one also came out before the end.

Unless anyone objects, I'll make that change tomorrow.

Well, my list is taken from the rom set directly (every rom had the year in its name)
