Corby
the 2600 has it, 5200 has it, but does the 7800 have any games that can produce any type of speech?? Is it capable of doing this??? Just wondering.
HammR25
The 7800 has the same sound chip in it as the 2600 and some games have a Pokey chip onboard like the 5200 had inside it so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible.
Nerf Herder73
The title screen for "Jinks" comes to mind right away.
nonner242
The answer is yes.... Check out my Video to hear it! The video is only about half the length of what actually plays just because it took to long to upload, so I cut it.

The_Laird
A VERY poor quality one. Still better than the quality of your posts.
VectorGamer
Yes, the 7800 voice says "please upgrade me!" It's a shame because some of those effects like in Donkey Kong or Mario Bros. just sound ridiculous and not up to par with the graphics. While Mario is fun to play, Donkey Kong is one of the few instances where the audio makes the game only so/so.
seanhq
How cool Tainted Love is an awesome 80s song. Has this been done for a 2600 as well? or just the 7800 (music on carts)?
nonner242
Sorry this could not be done on the 2600...unless you buy the CD 64-bit Helios Add on Super Drive!
+Sauron
Using sampled sounds of any kind is more dependent on the CPU than the sound chip. As has already been evidenced, the 7800 is clearly capable of it. Now, to see a few more games utilize sampled sounds or speech...
