Hello everybody! If you're anywhere near the Hampton Roads area then here's some news on an event going on in January 2010, and it's FREE!

The Southeastern Virginia Gaming (SeVaGaming) group and Chesapeake Central Library presents,

Event:

Freeplay: Modern & Classic Gaming

When:

January 30, 2010 starting at 9 AM

Where:

It's the last Saturday of the month. We're looking to have Gaming on arcades, consoles, and computers with a few Competitions. We also have the rights to show a few Movies (Tron is one) and will have a few people participate in Panels. Did we mention it is FREE?!

For the Atari fans we will have Atari consoles and computers!

Check it out and let me know if you have any questions or want to help!

Bad news. Due to the call of a foot of snow, or whatever the crazy estimate is at the moment, the city had a meeting this morning and I got the word that most likely the facilities will be shut down. We have decided to postpone the event and I will post that information when it becomes known; I'll be updating the Website as well. Also there is a Facebook group going so you may want to check that out.

Sorry for the bad news but we won't let these last several months of planning go to waste! Stay tuned.

and I will be THERE!

Geez, that snow! I moved from NYC to VA last year and all the people said I brought it with me!

For Atari systems we're looking to have for consoles a 2600, 5200, and 7800 along with Atari 130XE, 400, 600XL, and 800XL computers. As for what will be hooked up and loaded with software it will be based on demand from the visitors and how many monitors/tvs we have available.

Although not many read the news paper these days, the Virginia Pilot will have an article out soon interviewing the Central Library manager covering the topics of this event (possibly for Saturday's Daily Break section). There might also be an article on Alt Daily in the coming days.
