RangerG
What is the best way to remove the small thin plastic piece that surrounds the start/pause/reset button on a 5200 joystick? Whenever I remove it to fix or clean a joystick, I end up taking out a piece of the plastic. I can pop it out with a screwdriver, but it is so weak that I mess it up. Any suggestions -- should I use a toothpick or something or pop it from the inside?? Is it just me or do others mess up this piece. By the way, what is the official name of this piece so that I can order extras from Best if I ever decide to order a bigger item from them. Thanks for the help! -- RG
MrRetroGamer
It's called the Start pad bezel. I have seen 2 types, with one type easier to remove than the other. Sometimes they come out easy and sometimes they are a real pain. I usually use a razor blade under a corner to pop it up, but if you get resistance, use a very thin flat screwdriver to get in there and pop it out. I've damaged more than my share of these darn things already.
+Mitch
I use the blade on my pocket knife. It works great and doesn't mess up the bezel. Mitch htp://atari7800.atari.org
