Wrathchild
Hi, I've just been fixing up the ROM version of this game as it only worked on 400/800 machines and not the XL/XE series. I just wanted to check if this had been ported to the 5200 already as its not on the cart list? If not then I'll take a stab at it. Again, the original is a 16K image but appears not to have the space for the replacement stick handing routines and so will force me to use a 32K model. No real problem with that though. Lord Helmet
I've never seen a 5200 conversion, but it would be cool to have. Fort Apocalypse is a great game. I'd also like to see Protector 2 converted.

+Allan
Argg! I can't find my USB male/male cable for my Atarimax cart to try it. I'll pick one up today or tomorrow and try it on the real thing. It seems to hang after the title screen on Atari800MacX. Allan
Wrathchild
Looks to be an NTSC issue with timings etc, I'll take a look. (slaps wrist for not checking that... again) [Edit] It was, there is one check for VCOUNT = 0 which never occurs on the NTSC due to the reduced lines available and the extra code for joystick reading etc running over. Fixed verison attached. Thanks for the report Allan - will you be doing a label again? Greg2600
Just tried it on my flash cart, but I can't get the joystick or the trakball controllers to do anything in terms of moving the chopper. The demo mode looks really cool though! Edited February 9, 2010 by Greg2600
+Allan
Thanks for the report Allan - will you be doing a label again? Mark I will. Got to find a good scan of the box. Allan
Wrathchild
Thanks for testing Greg2600. The game's own initilization was resetting all the Pokey/Antic and Gtia registers after my init routines had already cleared and set these appropriately. I removed these but there could be others. Is there a better emulator to check controls work properly? Atari800WinPLus doesn't quite do this properly I understand? Thanks, Mark fa5200.zip
Greg2600
What you changed worked, now the controller works perfectly in the 5200! Trak-ball no, but not all games worked on it. As for Emulators, I personally use M.E.S.S. but the controls worked on it before your changes. I think most of the emulators are programmed in such a way that it is hard to "trip them up." Kjmann
This was the original I know, but i never liked the original artwork. It always looked a bit hokey to me. =)
+Allan
Well, here's a label for people who like the original artwork. Allan
Wrathchild
I've used Allan's image as a base, moved the word 'Synapse' and squeezed a bit more of the cover scan picture into the same space. I do like Sal's version though
