minorleagueguy
I put up a sign at work, looking for old videogames and stuff, and 2 days later, some guy who works overnight gives me a working 7800 plus the box!!. The box was a little beat up, and the hills price sticker was still on it. it came with a set of paddles(?), switch box, adaptor and cord, plus it still had the plastic still on the metal face plate! all for $0!!! He just wanted to get rid of the box. He says he has more stuff, and he'll bring them in next week!! updates to follow.

I'm gunning for the OLDER people whom have kids around my age (35) who still have stuff in the house. I've had several responces including a couple of intellivisions, a couple of odyessy2's, a channel F, and an arcadia!! So we will see how it goes, and i'll let everyone know! Inky
We have a classified ads section on the intranet at work, and I scored some Atari 2600 games. I'm gonna do it again soon..
King Atari
If you get more than one Channel F, Odyssey 2, or Arcadia, I'd be more than happy to take one off your hands.
minorleagueguy
King Atari, I'll keep you in mind, I am on vacation this week, so I will see my friend who works overnight next week sunday morning..
IceCold
I asked at school, I think I'm about to score some Genesis's with games for fairly cheap, but I haven't been able to find anybody with Atari stuff, or anything older than 16 bit. I'll keep trying though, we'll see how it goes

I was just kidding, probably should've put a smiley face in there. Thanks for the offer though (I've got no money to even pay for one right now). Its people in their late 20's and early 30's who grew up with Atari, and they aren't in school anymore. (unless of course, they were really really bad at it )
IceCold
Yeah, although the Genesis is a pretty good system, so that's not completely bad. But I would much rather get some Atari stuff than some 16 bit stuff I already have.

King Atari
The Genesis is about the most common system around here. Everywhere I go, there it is. Once, I could've gotten one for $2 at a flea market, but I was so sick of seeing them, I passed it up.

I see many of them also. Any gaming stuff at a good price I see I buy though, so if I saw one for $2 I'd buy it. Just like I bought the $7 thrift store one about 2 weeks ago. I don't regret it either.
church
Sega Genesis consoles are everywhere around here. I can go get about 5 genesis' for 4$ canadian each right now. Which works out to about 3$ american. The same place is selling a Super Nes for 20$ cdn or around 15$ us.
MacGurl
It's surprising how many people still have their Atari stuff after all of these years. So far, I've only found one person at my work that was into Atari..he's agreed to give me everything he can find once he goes thru his attic. minorleagueguy
MacGirl, I was grateful to the guy who gave me the 7800 plus box, he didn't want any money, just a thank you. You would be surprised at how many people would like to just get rid of the stuff their kids left behind. As my vacation ends on this coming Sunday, hopefully I'll have more stories to tell, and more stuff to haul home!!!!! .....is that my wife I hear crying in the bacK?? hehehe.... Yeah, I was going to say, since this is "part 1" of "...ask at work", is there going to be a part 2? Way to go on your haul so far.

I think they're $5 a piece. Except for the sports series, this system was a lame duck, but thats just my opinion. I don't want to take away from those who do enjoy it. King Atari
Except for the sports series, this system was a lame duck Uh uh, there were lots of great games made for it besides sports (which I've always kind of shyed away from due to the huge amount available). Just look at some these: Gauntlet IV Golden Axe Mortal Kombat Mortal Kombat II Street Fighter II Ms. Pac-Man And an arcade perfect Double Dragon (you knew I'd throw that in there). Witchfynde
A few in the underground that are worth checking out also include Subterrania and Fatal Rewind from Electronic Arts. And Star Control went out of print rather quick too, for some reason.

And Star Control went out of print rather quick too, for some reason. Probably because that it wasn't an 'official' Sega release. Sega, like Nintendo, liked to lock manufactuers out. Thus some real fun games had severely limited distribution. Like one of my all time favorites on the ST, Zany Golf, which had a short Genesis life. Well that's pretty stupid, especially since Star Control was a pretty classic, well-known game, not to mention Accolade was a fairly major company, they're maybe even still around today... Thus some real fun games had severely limited distribution. Like one of my all time favorites on the ST, Zany Golf, which had a short Genesis life. Oh yeah, I've heard good things about Zany Golf, just the title alone sounds pretty cool
