I put up a sign at work, looking for old videogames and stuff, and 2 days later, some guy who works overnight gives me a working 7800 plus the box!!. The box was a little beat up, and the hills price sticker was still on it. it came with a set of paddles(?), switch box, adaptor and cord, plus it still had the plastic still on the metal face plate! all for $0!!! He just wanted to get rid of the box. He says he has more stuff, and he'll bring them in next week!! updates to follow.

Yeah, it works pretty well. I'm gunning for the OLDER people whom have kids around my age (35) who still have stuff in the house. I've had several responces including a couple of intellivisions, a couple of odyessy2's, a channel F, and an arcadia!! So we will see how it goes, and i'll let everyone know!

I asked at school, I think I'm about to score some Genesis's with games for fairly cheap, but I haven't been able to find anybody with Atari stuff, or anything older than 16 bit.  I'll keep trying though, we'll see how it goes :)

That makes sense. Most people who are in school now grew up on the Nintendo, Super Nintendo, Genesis, era of games. Its people in their late 20's and early 30's who grew up with Atari, and they aren't in school anymore. (unless of course, they were really really bad at it ;) )

The Genesis is about the most common system around here. Everywhere I go, there it is. Once, I could've gotten one for $2 at a flea market, but I was so sick of seeing them, I passed it up.

I wonder if it's like that everywhere, or just a north eastern ohio thing? I see many of them also. Any gaming stuff at a good price I see I buy though, so if I saw one for $2 I'd buy it. Just like I bought the $7 thrift store one about 2 weeks ago. I don't regret it either.

MacGirl,

I was grateful to the guy who gave me the 7800 plus box, he didn't want any money, just a thank you. You would be surprised at how many people would like to just get rid of the stuff their kids left behind.

As my vacation ends on this coming Sunday, hopefully I'll have more stories to tell, and more stuff to haul home!!!!! .....is that my wife I hear crying in the bacK?? hehehe.... 8)

Sega Genesis consoles are everywhere around here. I can go get about 5 genesis' for 4$ canadian each right now. Which works out to about 3$ american. The same place is selling a Super Nes for 20$ cdn or around 15$ us.

Yep, a local Value Village has about six machines still sitting after more than a month. I think they're $5 a piece. Except for the sports series, this system was a lame duck, but thats just my opinion. I don't want to take away from those who do enjoy it.

Uh uh, there were lots of great games made for it besides sports (which I've always kind of shyed away from due to the huge amount available). Just look at some these:

Gauntlet IV

Golden Axe

Mortal Kombat

Mortal Kombat II

Street Fighter II

Ms. Pac-Man

And an arcade perfect Double Dragon (you knew I'd throw that in there).

A few in the underground that are worth checking out also include Subterrania and Fatal Rewind from Electronic Arts.  And Star Control went out of print rather quick too, for some reason.

Probably because that it wasn't an 'official' Sega release. Sega, like Nintendo, liked to lock manufactuers out. Thus some real fun games had severely limited distribution. Like one of my all time favorites on the ST, Zany Golf, which had a short Genesis life.

Well that's pretty stupid, especially since Star Control was a pretty classic, well-known game, not to mention Accolade was a fairly major company, they're maybe even still around today...

Oh yeah, I've heard good things about Zany Golf, just the title alone sounds pretty cool :)
