Havok69
Looking to get back into the 8 bit scene and I definitely want a SIO2PC. The site documentation is a bit confusing however. Can I use it to access cartridge images, or do I also need to pick up a Flash Multi-Cart? and while on the subject of the multi-cart, besides more storage space, why would I choose the 8 over the 1mbit version? Rybags
SIO2PC/APE is only good for emulating a disk drive, and otherwise doesn't change your setup from default. Many cartridges have been converted to executables anyway, so it's not a total loss there. A multi Flashcart will run some cartridges, practically all the 8K ones should work without problem, and many others will likely be hacked so as to work on it. 1 mbit = 128K so obviously the 8 mbit cart will hold a lot more images, and the cost isn't all that much more. What about the USB cartridge-- how many mbits is that one?

I tried uploading ROMs using a simple upload to RAM, but it doesn't work for most ROM images as they are copy-protected so they expect a READ-ONLY memory. There was some thread on this forum a few months ago. Some ROMs do work by uploading to same location in RAM $8000 or $A000.
