AtariLeaf
I don't know too much about the computers that Atari made except for a bit about the 400/800 series, but I saw a computer at a thrift store for 10 bucks and wondered if its worth picking up. Its called a 130XE. I know nothing about it so if anyone can provide a link to some info and let me know if its worth 10 bucks. I'm not even sure if it works but I thought I'd come here for some expert advice. Cheers!
+Mitch
If it's working and has the power supply then it is definitely worth $10. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
AtariLeaf
Do the Atari 800 games work on this system? They had a box of those ugly brown 800 carts. They've got the 800 puters with drives and I think some tape players too. As well as some 2600 jrs and another 7800 or two.
+Mitch
Yes, nearly all 800 games will work on a 130XE. The XE series systems were basically just later models of the 400/800 line with more memory. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
AtariLeaf
Nearly all games work? Which ones don't so I can keep an eye on which ones I pick up.
Nukey Shay
That is correct. IIRC virtually all cartridges work, but a lot of disks made before 1982 may need the Translator disk to work. BTW nice find!
AtariLeaf
That is correct. IIRC virtually all cartridges work, but a lot of disks made before 1982 may need the Translator disk to work. BTW nice find! Well there looked to be a cardboard box with a few hundred floppies in it with the computers so maybe that translator disk is in there. I'll be heading back Monday to take a closer look again since I want to pick up another 7800. By the way, what does IIRC mean?
Nukey Shay
If I Recall Correctly.
+Mitch
There's a list of incompatible games in the Atari 8-bit FAQ. But since the games probably got donated with the system I would think that they should all work with it. RJ
ilove...- scoop that sucker up & hope that it works! You got yourself a great find there!
Hulsie
A 130xe plus power supply plus a bunch of carts plus 200 floppies???!?!? DO NOT WAIT ANY LONGER! BUY THAT SUCKER NOW!!! I'd probably faint if I found a lot like that for ten bucks...
AtariLeaf
Well I bought the lot a little over a week ago and it turns out the floppies were all just a bunch of blanks but I'm going back soon. I saw 3 boxed Vic-20's and I might pick one up and also, with the lot I received was a Colecovision power supply. It could mean nothing but it could also mean a Colecovision hiding in their backroom somewhere perhaps?
