AtariDude
May the force be with you! The Star Wars sit down version was the best Atari arcade game followed by Gauntlet (sure is fun to play with a group of your friends together). vespertillio
Hate to be in the the minority here but my personal faves are: Rampart X's and O's football :-) Stun Runner Missile Command Red Baron Cheers.
davidbrit2
Toobin'! The arcade I visit often just got one, so I can finally play it the way it's meant to be played. The NES version just didn't do it justice. If any game deserves the title of sleeper hit, it's Toobin'. And War - Final Assault is pretty addicting, too. If anybody knows of one near Southwest Michigan, let me know.
goatdan
Personally, as an aspiring arcade operator, my favorite Atari game is Rush 2049, which I feel is the first major step above Daytona USA for the look, feel and overall fun of the game itself. There has not been a _video_ game in the past five years that has had me spend as much money on playing it as Rush 2049. It has everything that both a player and an operator wants in a game. As for old school Atari games, I would probably have to go with Asteriods. After perhaps Ms. Pac-Man and Galaxian, Asteriods would be my third favorite oldie

t.skid
Too many great Atari arcades, so I write a name for all: Crystal Castles!!
caveman
Hmmmm...I have it down to about 10 real good ones, but I'd have to say it's probably I, Robot. The weirdness of the game has been unmatched since Williams' NARC. Too bad that it didn't catch on when it came out. It's neck and neck with Major Havoc for originality. Cobra Kai
There was a period when Atari released all those arcade games with that nice graphical style in hi-res, of which my favorites are included: 720 Super Sprint/Championship Sprint Paperboy Roadblasters
JB
Best Atari game: Tempest. Best Atari Games game: RoadBlasters. Best of the 2... Likely to change from minute to minute, so I won't say.
NovaXpress
I've never loved any videogame more than Tempest. I think that was the peak.

Inky
Ooh.. I forgot about Liberator. THat is one of my Atari arcade favorites too. A port to the 2600 would have been nice...
Xot
This is soooo difficult... but I think I have to give the nod to Marble Madness, with honorable mention to Millipede and Tempest. I was also a big fan of Road Blasters and STUN Runner. I REALLY need to pick up the Lynx version of that. Are there any other home ports of STUN Runner? Edit_5
Well this may not be the best, but it's certainly one I'd love to own despite all the faults it had. FIREFOX, the cockpit version...
hanglyman
for me, it's gotta be Tempest Major Havoc I Robot three of the most original games ever? Love those Atari Vector Games!
AtariDude
I forget to mention that I liked Fire Fox as well though I never saw the sit down version. I take it that the stand up version was sold in larger quantities or is that just a guess on my part?

Big Player
Glad you bumped this old thread. Now that I've played Major Havoc at AGE, it goes on my list. MAME doesn't do this game justice. The roller controller is sweet. Still waiting to play I, Robot on the real hardware. Maybe next year at AGE?
DuckandCover
Nice thread, but a tough choice. Star Wars RoadBlasters Asteroids Major Havoc I just recently played Major Havoc on MAME and was pretty disappointed. The original controls make all the difference. I only wish I could find a Major Havoc cabinet in my area.
