IntellivisionDude
I have been watching Ebay off and on the last few months. And the last 2 days people are bidding a lot higher on stuff that sold for a lot less a couple months ago. I'm not saying these games are not worth what they are paying. And i'm not comparing prices to the Rarity Guides either. Just what people were paying a couple months back. Here are some examples. This one isn't even over with yet. This is just one brand new Intellivision II Controller. I paid about $20 for 2 brand new ones a couple months back, and after i bought mine another new pair showed up for the same price. This one is crazy eBay Auction -- Item Number: 270566307997 Diner boxed may be worth $100 but i seen boxes in better condition go for $50 or less. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190389747408 That's a lot of money considering the condition of the box (Tower of Doom) eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190389750147 Same thing with Hover Force eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190389750455 Slam Dunk eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190389751472 Pole Position, box is in better shape, maybe this one is closer to reality eBay Auction -- Item Number: 190389749820 I could be underestimating the price of these games but i think these people over paid. Why did i make this post? Because i'm bored lol, and i don't like the recent pattern of prices going up. I'm a poor boy lol. I'm only on the look out for one game (Body Slam) but i can't imagine what it's gonna go for once one shows up. It will be way out of my price range.
Rev
I have been watching the intv ebay market for almost 3 years? It has gone up and down alot in that time. One time i remember congo bongo boxed went for 700,i think a recent one sold for 300 or close to it. but i think you are right about a trend right now of stuff going back up.maybe the economy is getting better? It boils down to supply and demand and who is looking for what at a certain time i guess. Edited April 24, 2010 by revolutionika
+cmart604
I was watching and bidding on some of his games and I agree that the Diner, Tower of Doom and Hover Force went too high, but I think that the Pole Position and Basketball were reasonable. The single controller was way too high as well. As Rev mentioned, I think the improving economy might be part of it. I know there are times when I just decide I want something and overpay for it. These items weren't that uncommon so there really wouldn't be a reason to overpay for them whereas I just bought a sealed INTV for $229 BIN (unit sealed inside box, which was a bit beat up) which might be high but they are very hard to find. I've wanted a sealed one for the 11 or so years I've been buying INTV stuff off of ebay and I just decided I didn't care what it costs. Now, when it arrives, it better be genuinely new and not some reseal job, which will be easy to figure out. I'll probably post some pics under the purchases and deals thread once it arrives.

Yah I was looking real close at the pictures and I just thought what the hell, I'll take a chance, because if it is real then it's one thing I can check off my list. The way the documents were packed in around the controllers made me think it was legit. I'll let evryone know once I get it. Then I have to figure out if I should open it. Cebus Capucinis
Why do I get the feeling that the copy of Tower of Doom you posted was accousticguitar's copy that he sold on the cheap to "another collector" on AA?

hhwolfman
You just have to be patient and have the money, when a good deal comes up. Most good deals are in bulk. HHW
Rik
Its what people are willing to pay. What things sell for on Ebay doesn't mean that that's their value or what they're worth, obvious right?I had to explain that to a flea market vendor who was kicking himself for selling a 2600 SPRINGER for $4.00.He said it was worth $400,because that's what he saw it sell for on Ebay.I said WRONG!that's what someone paid to OUTBID the other bidders,a lot of others were bidding on it,so he bid high to outbid the others. In reality,it's really worth like $60.00,for various reasons apart from what it sold for on Ebay! This is the same vendor who was selling a Peavey guitar amp with a printed out form of what it sold at Ebay for!!! I said, but this isn't Ebay, this is a flea market, you want top dollar, then go sell it at Ebay, not here.A lot of people think if that's what it sold for on friggin Ebay, then that's what "I" should get for it,that's just not true. This reminds me of a few weeks ago my bro called me and said a buddy of his had a huge lot of C64 games (maybe 30 boxed games) and wanted to sell them.so he asked how much and he wanted like 300 bucks for the lot.i told him if he wanted ebay prices that he needs to sell them on ebay.needless to say,i never bought them.i might of given him 100 tops.i guess most people are too lazy to list their junk on ebay but still want top dollar. IntellivisionDude
Here is a side story. I'm always hearing about people finding these great deals on Craigslist and finding stuff way below Ebay prices. Getting stuff almost free. Well in my area might as well forget that. People sell stuff for top dollar here. Almost everything listed in the video games section is Ebay prices or higher. It disgusts me. lol I just now did a search on my local Craigslist. Intellivision 1 result (that's 1 more result than last month) Atari 9 results (and 1 of those reults is for a PS1 game and another was for an Atari Hat)

I definetly noticed this as I bid on 9 of this person's items. I never snipe so I put out my bids of what I thought they were worth and added 15% to them just to be sure. I didn't win any of them. Disappointing to me, but I would never pay as much as most them went so to each his own. I think a big part of it is the fact that one person was selling many nice items. Save on shipping will help your sale every time.

maximebeauvais
overpaying.....hummmm.... I do remember that at one point I was looking for 2 atari games: raiders of the last ark and pitfall 2. I did not mind paying extra money to get them. I paid probably too much but I did not care. Same thing apply to every item. some people have more money then other or are willing to pay more. If I put my league of robot or robot rubble on ebay....I could get 100$ or maybe some will be crazy enough to give me 500$ each when I first started to collection INTV (around 10 years ago) congo bongo was always 500$ and more...now you could get a it for 300$. I paid mine 250$ 2 years ago.....same thing with stadium. who knows....maybe next year will be a good year to buy intv.....Imagine if 5 or 6 spiker goes on ebay at the same time....price will be down. IntellivisionDude
I guess i'm in the category of "Budget Gamer". I'm broke all the time. So i never overpay, i can't afford to. I try to find deals and pay under what a game is worth. That's the best i can do being low income. A bunch of Intellivision games popped up on Ebay last night with inflated starting bids. I won't link them but i'm sure you can find them. $79.99 starting bid for a Commando and Instruction Manual?
