some DASM help

Recommended Posts

I thought I'd mention one other thing when I was using distella. The adventure.bin (the commented source from Minidig) I made from dasm wouldn't disassemble in distella. I got an error that it couldn't locate the file. So I tried a different source using the .bin from AA and it disassembled and recompiled it fine. So why didn't it like the commented source version?

Nukey Shay has a good commented 8k Adventure assembly code around here some place. I highly recommend it if you want to hack Adventure.

Thanks but I was using Adventure to see if dasm and distella were working right. Seems that if I remove all the comments from the source it can be assembled and disassembled. But distella seems to be picky about what can be disassembled, even some 4k bins give me an error where it can't locate the file. Haven't quite figured out it's deal.

It could be that your filename has additional extentions that aren't showing up (i.e. filename.ext.ext or filename[1].ext instead of just filename.ext. Look at the filenames using your browser, and uncheck any option that tells it to "hide filename extentions for known file types".

Also, text files saved as word documents are incompatable. Be sure it's stored as text only.
