Wrathchild
Hi, Out of curiosity, I've ported the 'Impossible Mission' speech to the Atari. This was converted from the C64 'SID' file which itself just contains 7 compressed samples which are expanded and replayed using PlaySID's 'extra' SID registers. I doubt the game uses the same method as it eats most of memory... from $0800 through to $C08C. Because of this extra 140 odd bytes, the thing only runs properly on an XL/XE as the $C000 ROM needs to be switched out to get at those bytes. If I try to have the samples expand 1 page lower then the replay goes wrong between the last two samples ('Ha Ha Ha' and 'Aaaaggghhh'). A bit of investigation should be able to track down the cause. Plays OK under A800Win PLus 3.0, I'm yet to try my 800XL. Source code (CA65) and program (im.com) in the attached zip. Enjoy, Mark P.S. Next stage... how to get a screen to display and then play the sample at a stable rate? im.zip
