CaliColts
I wonder what kind of bidding nightmare thats gonna bring...
Pitfall Harry
I think it's kinda cool that the current high bidder for the CX-2000 prototype is somebody named atari2000. Let's all hope he wins! Ben
+Mitch
I just tried to check it and it's gone. Mitch http://atari7800.atari.org
Brian R.
Damn. I wonder what happened to the auction. After looking at that, it's definitely interesting, but I don't know how well it could be used by two people at the same time. Hmm, I'm not even sure how easy it would be to use that for just a one player game, if you have to hold the entire thing or rest it on your lap. I can't see having it sit on a table or something while playing a game.
moycon
I wonder if the seller got a private side bid and cancelled??? Hmmm No that can't be it. If the seller cancelled the auction it would say the auction was ended... This was definately pulled by ebay.... Its invalid. I wonder why it was pulled??? mos6507
Another bit of trivia about the CX-2000... Take alook at your 9v Atari power supply sometimes. Some of them say they work with the CX-2000. I looked at the transformer many years ago and wondered what a CX-2000 was. By the numbering I thought it was a pre-2600 system like Video Pinball. So at some point Atari must have been pretty serious about selling these things if they are referenced by Atari power supplies.
Marc Oberhäuser
Does anyone has a email address of the seller? Marc
AtariDude
I wonder if they pulled it because there was something fishy going on. Is it me or has there been just a bit too many prototypes appearing on Ebay?
Curt Vendel
Seems rather odd, there was nothing wrong with the description or content of the auction... Hmmmmm.... Curt
King Atari
Look on the back of an E.T. box, it says for use with 2000 series systems (or something like that).
Lost Monkey
Here is the message I received from eBay: "Unfortunately, the listing you recently bid on: 1941923239 - WHAT!?! Atari 2600 Preproduction Prototype! has been removed from eBay. Because the listing was ended early, you as a bidder are not required to complete the transaction. For your information, eBay's User Agreement provides that members may not offer items for sale that infringe upon any third party's copyright or other proprietary rights. We reserve the right to terminate any listing for any reason, including if it offers illegal and infringing goods for sale, and may also terminate the accounts of users that repeatedly offer to sell goods that infringe another party's intellectual property rights. Such listing items or materials also violate eBay's Listing Policies prohibiting the offering of infringing materials." I am assuming that someone at eBay has pulled this due to their own perceived copyright issues...

Flojomojo
Wow -- that would have been a neat little item. I'd buy a replica today if they were made available, though it would be a little too ... intimate for 2P games for my tastes. The 2600 jr. is nice but isn't quite as cool IMHO.
