OldAtarian
Has anyone opened these up and found out what makes them tick? Can they be interchanged if you have the right plug ends? Divya16
Has anyone opened these up and found out what makes them tick? Can they be interchanged if you have the right plug ends? There's one that comes with this modern 76000 game nintendo system that has the same connector but I haven't found the pinouts anywhere to see how different it is. MEtalGuy66
The ATARI light gun is by far the most innaccurate, suck-assed P.O.S. ever sold.. The SEGA Master system light gun is pretty decent, however, and even uses the same connector. You have to rewire it so that the trigger is normally open, because on the SEGA, it's normally closed.. This amounts to moving one wire inside the gun (if you are lucky) or replacing the microswitch at the worst case scenario.. But anywayze, it's well worth it.. The SEGA gun is actually a decent controller.. You can actually make decent scores at games like bug hunt, barnyard blaster, and crime busters.. With the Stock ATARI gun, it's more luck than skill/accuracy.. There may be an article (I seem to recall, but cant be sure) floating around somewhere that focused on "tuning up" the ATari XG-1 light gun to correct some of the problems.. I have not tried this.. But overall, the Sega gun is larger, much better balanced, much more sturdy of a design, and just overall a much better controller to begin with.. [any/all of the above may be considered oppinion, but it's a pretty common one.]
OldAtarian
How about a Guncon? Has anyone tried modding one of those for Atari use?
