qix_maniac
I have an original Montezuma's Revenge disk from BC computing...how rare is this disk?
Rybags
Depends which version. According to AtariMania there was actually a ROM of the pre-release incomplete Utopia version as well as disk - the one I got in the 80s was an executable. There's also a few variants of the "cut down" version that was commercially released, and it seems Atarimania doesn't have all of them. http://www.atarimania.com/list_games_atari-400-800-xl-xe-p_total-page-step-letter_747-23-25-M_8_G.html
www.atarimania.com
Sure it isn't BCI Software? The only "true" executable is the unreleased and unfinished version by Utopia Software. Something we need to add is that the cut-down version sold by Parker Brothers was actually a redevelopment by Base Two and not Robert Jaeger - at least a large part of the game. Anyway, the prototype ROM version and commercial disk by Parker Brothers - an Atari / C64 "flippy" actually - are 100% the same. So is the BCI Software re-release, including the protection. The Databyte game is, again, the same code, just different protection and the addition of a loading screen, as well as an extra distribution on tape. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com

Yes, it is BCI Software and it is copy protected. So are you saying this version is rare or not rare? Any idea on # produced? www.atarimania.com
No idea how many copies were produced. It's rare but not mega rare. The Parker Brothers original disk version is really tougher to find. -- Atari Frog http://www.atarimania.com
qix_maniac
Thanks for info. Yeah, montezuma is my all-time favorite game. I tried to win a prototype cartridge made by parker brothers on ebay last December/January timeframe as was outbid by an outrageous bid of about $360.00. Parker brother's cartridge was from guy in NJ who did reviews of games for magazine back in 80's. I can post a picture of the cartridges for your site if you'd like. tjlazer
I also have this disk version. I think I paid like $40 for it on eRip. Edited October 5, 2010 by tjlazer
R4ngerM4n
IIRC Lance Ringquist (video61) sold this BCI version in larger quantities some years ago, he even may have the game in stock.
carmel_andrews
Wasn't there suppoased to be a bug in the A8 version, i think it was something to do with the diamond rooms (which indicate you are coming to the end of that level) And what of 'Preliminary Monty' or is that basically a hack of MR
