DAY 2 PRIZE:

UP425492.jpg

Today's prize is what I call, "The Atari Pirate Package" - seeing as Radar

Lock, Reactor, and Raquetball all begin with "Arrrr..." (I'm so clever!)

Today's contest: In keeping with the pirate motif, today we're going to

learn a bit about pirate history. Below are the flags of four famous (and

infamous) pirates. First person to correctly identify which buccaneers flew

which flags and post the list to this thread wins the carts pictured above.

Two rules additions are needed:

1. You may only post your guesses once. More than one post and you shall be

disqualified.

2. You may not edit your message. If your list is corrected or edited after

you've posted it, it shall be voided. (That way, someone won't immediately

post some gibberish, go research, then come back and correct it -

effectively making them "first.")

(In case anyone needs a reminder of the rules, go

here.

That's it me hardies! The answers are out there on the Web for the scurvy

lad (or lass) who knows where to look! Good luck! Arrrrrr.....

Damn! 11 minutes! Well, congratulations to joshk who was the first to post the correct names of the pirates whose flags these were. Although there very well may have been

others who flew similar flags, these are the answers I have researched and found to be "correct." The correct answers are:

1. Edward Teach (AKA Blackbeard)

2. Emanuel Wynn

3. Jack Rackham (AKA Calico Jack) (Josh's spelling was "close enough," as it was an obvious M/N reversal.)

4. Stede Bonnet

If joshk will PM me his address, I will get his prize in the mail. Keep in

mind that - if you win any prize - you are now ineligable for further

contests with the exception of the Day 12 Giveaway. Congrats once again!

When we play tomorrow, here's the prize up for grabs:

I call it "The Atari Videogame Sequel Collection!" See you then!

BTW: The name is John Rackham.

I saw that mistake in Josh's entry, which is why I made note of it in my winner announcement. Just in case anyone thought I didn't notice and in case a rules-lawyer decided to argue josh's entry was incorrect. Thanks for keeping the contests honest Thomas! :D

Oh, and this is only the second day, so the quizes/contests are a bit on the "easier" side. They'll get more challenging as the week and a half progresses. Trust me.

Your prize will be shipped this week josh.

I have the google taskbar installed and I searched for "pirate flags". The first couple entries was nothing close but the was on that had a page of flags with first initial and last name. Then from another page I could search from last name and find out the first name and check the flag against it. I was done in about 5 minutes, but I checked a couple other sites to verify my answers.
