rchennau
I purchased the Atari 2600 wireless joysticks awhile ago thinking I could use them with my Atari 400/800. Howeve when I powered it all up I got nothing. So does anyone know if these things will work with A8 line? If not can they be modded to do so? If all answers are no then I have a Atari 2600 wired joystick set for sale!
Roydea6
Do you have a reciever to connect to the computer or 2600. If not they are junk. and probably junk anyway.
rchennau
Yes, I have the entire kit. Unfortunately Atari value engineered out a power LED. So I have no clue If it even powers in. Maybe if I stick it next to an AM radio I could catch some RF from the sticks?
Sleepy
I´ve also a set with two wireless sticks and one receiver. My receiver is switched between the VCS and the VCS´s power supply. On the Picture you can see the silver jack for the VCS-PU and the wire with the connector to the VCS-powerjack. The sticks themselve runs with a 9V batterie. When I want to use the sticks on my XL I have to connect the VCS-power supply to the receiver. Syfo-Dyas
Or could you do the NES to Atari hack on a wireless NES controller?
rchennau
Sleepy: Thanks. I just checked and I do have the power supply with the system and thus still no go. I'd really like to repair it however I've no clue as to where to begin. I´ve also a set with two wireless sticks and one receiver. My receiver is switched between the VCS and the VCS´s power supply. They were inside a file I have called "complete schematics.zip" which I believe I got in this forum. Sleepy
The shematics would be a great help. I hope they fit to your controllers. If both controllers are completely without function, I would first try to check the receiver. Behind the power jack, there is a little chip called 78L05 (IC 9), it looks like a small transistor. The 78L05 should stabilize the 9V from the PU to 5V. Maybe someone connected a wrong PU to the receiver and killed the 78L05. Also check C43, the 10uF-capacitor. If s.o. connected a wrong wired PU this one can also be damaged. Which kind of measuring intruments do you have (scope, dmm)? jaybird3rd
I once had a set of Atari wireless joysticks, and as I recall, they worked fine with the 400/800 computers. They were designed to use the 2600's power supply in a passthrough fashion: the power supply plugged into the wireless receiver, which then plugged into the 2600. Unless there's some other problem with the receiver, all you should need to do is plug it in with a 2600 power supply.
