godzillajoe
I haven't pulled anything apart yet. How does it look inside? Is there soldering involved. It's not any special type of cable is it?
zylon
Yes. It's soldered in place. It's just heavily shielded coax cable with clamp on the inside end.

It is replaceable and it is soldered to the board.
godzillajoe
Thanks. I'll have to open it up or just try my dupe system which may not work. I foregt. This one seems to be a bit wonky in that if you move the cable, the system shuts off. Something is loose somewhere.
OldAtarian
Is the cable from the 4 port the same as the one as the one on the two port? I would think the 4 port one would be different since it also has to carry power in addition to the RF and keep the two separated.

This one seems to be a bit wonky in that if you move the cable, the system shuts off. Something is loose somewhere. Mine did that. What I did was open the switchbox and bent the bottom of the center contact so it would contact the plug more securely. No problems since. godzillajoe
I busted it open and it looks like the solder to one of the pins to the coax in is cracked. The socket kinda wobbles around. One drop of solder and should be good as new I assume. zylon
A cracked solder joint will do that as well. I turn off the light while moving the cable around to check for intermittent breaks in the connection. They'll spark if you have one. (not counting the one you get when plugging the cord in)
godzillajoe
A drop of solder to keep things from jiggling around and it's good as new

godzillajoe
Now there's a TV fit for playing the 5200! Ha. Quality wood grain paneling and no remote! Years ago when I was living in a big apt. in Boston. Someone left it in the trash room with a sign that said "works but is ugly" I grabbed it and kept it in a spare room or when I bought a house out on the screened in porch. Decided the other day to bring it upstairs and hook all my game systems up to it. I call it the "retro room" Decorated with all my old band posters from HS and college. Genesis, Marillion, Kate Bush.... Edited November 21, 2010 by godzillajoe

Must be, because my 2-port cable is a simple RF that is detachable, like the 2600.
