sdstuff64
I would have to say Neo Geo Pocket Color.I haven't played my GBA is what seems like years. And my NGPC has given me so much,I love that little thing. What do you all think? joeybastard
This may be cheating but I'd say Sega Nomad or the TurboExpress because they played the same carts as their big brothers. The NGPC is a beautiful little system though. I like the GBA better but only because it can play any GB(*) games.
Cupcakus
GBA for sure... I scopped up the NGPC the minute it came out, and was heart broken when it was discontinued only about 8 months later :-( I have to vote the GBA as the best hand held ever, the TurboExtress is a close second, as it could play the TG16 console games.... I'm not a big fan of Japanese influence on video games, I don't like the poor english translations, ludicrous Sci-Fi story lines, and art... and the NGPC was packed full of that stuff... :-) But it had a damn good Sonic port :-) and was the first console system I ever tried to homebrew for... Gabriel
Currently, I'd have to say the GBA. That little thing kicks ass. Previously, I would have said the Nomad. The main problem with the handhelds is that none other than the Gameboy stand any chance of being supported. Therefore, a good selection of games never grows for them. The Nomad avoided this because of its compatibility with the large libary of Genesis games. Of course, the Nomad drains batteries at a rate of 6 in 3 hours or less. The gamegear had a love of batteries too, which is why I didn't mention it... even though it was a cool handheld..

Pie
Hummm......it would really depend on the situation. Anywhere with a mains socket handy - Lynx. For portability though the NGPC is perfect. Has anyone here bought a GP32? I know there have been a couple of threads about it...anyhow I should be getting one in a week or so. Just got to sell my pinball *cough* http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...&item=744427280 *cough*
Starscream
I always have preferred the Turbo express because no need to buyadditional games and the TV tuner. But, really, all of them kick ass.
Cupcakus
I bought a GP32, but havn't had time to toy with it... I couldn't find any english games out for it... I want to do some homebrews, maybe some emulator projects for it when I get the time, I love how it's all balanced on the linux OS, that makes life very easy :-) And it takes Compact Flash media for software, which is cheap and easily available for homebrewing, unlike other consoles :-)
somePUNK
the linx was also a great hand held

Sir Plus
Of course, the Nomad drains batteries at a rate of 6 in 3 hours or less That's why I perfer a classic handheld. Unlike moderns, they can run months on a single 9v cell. You are almost forced to buy an wall adapter for those.
MattyXB
I like most the WonderSwan Color and Game Boy Advance. But its bad, that the WonderSwan Color was never released outside from Japan. And all great games for it only in japanese, like Final Fantasy I, II & IV.
sdstuff64
Yea,Nomad is also a good one.I still need to find one of those.
King Atari
I'd say the GBA, playing any GB/GBC game, as well as GBA games, you've got a huge library.
Big Player
Mattel Classic Football 2, now available at Wal-Mart for $12.50. http://users2.ev1.net/~rik1138/Mattel/ClassicFB2.htm

I thought with the games they could work in both languages or something? You can download a perfect port of doom as far as I know, which would be neat. I don't know if you are aware of http://www.insertcredit.com/, but they have a bunch of game reviews and news updates for it.
Cupcakus
I did put some MP3's on it, but that's it... I really havn't had time to tinker with it...
NE146
Best Multi-Game Handheld? There are a lot of good ones... but at this point the choice has to be GBA. Best Dedicated Handheld? I like Hyper Olympic Challenge
Cupcakus
I had one of those Tiger Electonics double dragon and castlevania games, and I thought they were the shit! :-)
MegaManFan
Best Multi-Game Handheld? There are a lot of good ones... but at this point the choice has to be GBA. Agreed. And if you hate the screen you can always make the backlight mod.
hedgehog
I like a lot of the handhelds, I used to like the Sega Gamegear and Nomad, but know I would have to say my favorite is the GBA, it has a lot of fun games, and once they released Metroid Fusion, I began to like the GBA more then ever. Mikau
I'd say the GBA, because nintendo perfected thier handheld. sure, it took them a few tries, but they did get it right. the best features are probably the huge battery life and backwards compatibility with its great library of games from up to 10 years ago
