psquare75
So I just got a Vic20.. with no hookups. It does not have the 'rainbow' decal, but rather the gold/black decal. The backside has what looks like round DIN connectors. What do I need, as far as a power supply? EDIT: Whoops. Can a mod move this to Classic Computing? I thought I was in there, but I guess not. zylon
There are 2 different power supplies. One type just has a 2 socket plug, and the other uses the round DIN C64 style.
Mirage
Assuming it has the round DIN power connector, you can use a C64 power supply with the Vic-20... but don't use a Vic-20 power supply on a 64. But, be careful of those standard epoxy C64 power supplies. They are known to take out 64's (and Vic-20's in your case). Much better to go with a solid rebuildable power supply, or better yet a new one from a reputable source. The original C64 power supplies are computer killers. psquare75
I just noticed it has a plug on the side with the power switch with two pins labeled '9v'.
zylon
I just noticed it has a plug on the side with the power switch with two pins labeled '9v'. That means you'd need the early style power supply. That one's easy to find on ebay and less failure prone.
