Marius
Hi, In a "SIO2SD" related topic here on Atariage I read something about issues that might be caused with the Brownout setting (certain fuse bit). I am having some strange things going on with my Sio2IDE 3.3a The interface worked perfect till a few days ago. It started 'locking up' on the strangest moments (the busy led went on during I/O and that kind of things). I tried everything... nothing worked. At last I swapped the Atmega with a fresh programmed one (I had a few in stock, already programmed years ago) and the device works great again. I'm wondering now: is it normal that I have to reprogram the Atmega from time to time, or can this behavior be prevented by setting the right brownout setting? And here it comes: which brownout bit has to be set. I have a custom made Sio2IDE with Atmega163 (indeed 163, not 161!). Another question: there is a possibility to enable / disable serial programming. Is there a chance that disabling this, will increase the stability of the Atmega or not? And last question: if disabling the serial programming feature, what kind of AVR programmer do I need to set fuse bits and reprogram it again? Are the general burners with 40 pin socket that will do eeprom, avr, gal etc. able to do this task? Thanks for any help! Marius

I'm still wondering: what brownout voltage do I need for Atmel? 2.7V or 4V? Thanks! M.
