stevelanc
All, In your opinion what is the best C64 storage device? I am looking to get one soon, and my intention is purely for gaming - i.e. loading single file games and multi disk games, PRG, T64 and CRT files etc. The three possibilities I have in mind are the Chameleon, 1541 Ultimate, or IDE64. I am aware of the MMC64 and MMC Replay but understand these latter two are not available. Any comments or guidance appreciated. Thanks Steve
Hatta
Depends on what you want to store. If you just want mass storage, the IDE64 will do that just fine. If you want 100% compatibility for floppy based games with custom loaders you need a floppy emulator like the 1541U.
+remowilliams
The 'best' as in most flexible and most powerful, is without a doubt the 1541U series. Like Hatta said though, to any given individual it depends on personal needs and budget. If all someone wants to do is run single load .prg files, many of the cheaper solutions will do that just fine.
