texacala
What are your favorite Atari 8-bit games? These could be the ones you've spent the most time with, are technically impressive, iconic, or just have great nostalgic appeal. I'll pick ten (in no particular order): Return of Heracles MULE Star Raiders Universe Necromancer Ultima III Misja Deadline Space Harrier Bounty Bob Strikes Back I'm sure Alternate Reality and YOOMP probably belong up there, but that's what jumped out for me. R4ngerM4n
Newer productions: 1. Crownland - best jump'n'run graphics on little atari ever! 2. Yoomp! 3. Space Harrier Older ones: 1. Alternate Reality "The City" & World Karate Championship - two games way ahead of their time with respect to everything 2. Tapper, Boulder Dash & Gyruss - pure arcade playing fun 3. Draconus & Zybex - milestones at their time, introduced a new generation of sound and graphics to little Atari 4. Hacker - first game I ever finished 5. Schloß Schreckenstein - played that game to death but unfortunately never finished 6. Mercenary - the very first real 3-D computer game I have seen 7. Spy vs. Spy - kill, kill, kill 8. Koronis Rift, Rescue on Fractalus & The Eidolon - you know why 9. Henry's House - colors everywhere! 10. Submission (BASIC type-in from a German computer mag) - rather simple game, but first computer game I ever played! Bryan
Let's see... 1. Necromancer - This game just has an awesome intense vibe to it. 2. Fort Apocalypse - Played the heck out of this one as a kid! 3. Ultima II - First game I got so addicted to I couldn't sleep. 4. Defender - One of the best looking arcade ports. 5. Ballblazer - Beautiful game! I think I broke a couple joysticks playing this. 6. Frogger - John Harris' masterpiece. 7. M.U.L.E. - One of the most original games of the 8-bit era. 8. Boulder Dash - Very addicting and challenging puzzle game. 9. Mountain King - Really creepy and hard! 10. STRATOS - Starts out easy and gradually kicks your butt! Honorable mention: I also play the heck out of Yoomp! I'm sure I'm forgetting some, but that's off the top of my head.
