TIPS - REVISION 1:

1) BEEF DROP LAYOUT: This game is composed by 6 different screens. Once you complete the 6th board, you return to the 1st screen. Study these Layouts showed below (I put the screenshots of Levels 1 to 12).

2) BONUS PEPPER: Each time you complete the level, you earn 1 additional pepper.

3) PEPPERS: Try to keep at least 10 peppers in reserve for emergencies, specially for Layout 6, which is more difficult to complete (of course, easier to get trapped by the enemies - Mr. Hot Dog, Mr. Egg and Mr. Pickle). Try to collect bonus items as many as possible in order to accumulate more peppers, but losing this bonus item is better than losing a life; so, don't worry if you can't pick French fries, Coffee or Ice-cream.

4) SCORING - BONUS ITEMS (Each item collected is worth 1 Bonus Pepper):

- 500 points: Ice-cream;

- 1000 points: Coffee;

- 1500 points: French fries.

First attempt: 99050

I've never been able to pass the third stage in Burgertime, so I thought I was playing on Novice or something, but I guess there was no difficulty option here. Oyama's posts reassured me that I didn't do something wrong! (I played this when it was posted but only posted my score now.)

TIPS - REVISION 2 (valid for Beef Drop version played by roadrunner):

1) After opening Beef Drop cartrigde with your Atari 7800 ProSystem Console or Emulator, DON'T press "Reset Game" or "Fire" buttom in order to see openings screens and demonstration. The demonstration screens appear after showing the character which represents the player - FEATURING CHEF PETE.

post-24681-0-17267900-1316344554_thumb.png

2) On the first Demostration Screen, see with attention how to kill an opponent with a falling hamburger part. Here are the scorings:

- Squash an Egg (Mr. Yolk): 300 points;

- Squash a Hot Dog (Frank): 100 points;

- Squash a Pickle (Dr. Dill): 200 points.

3) On the second Demostration Screen, see with attention how to drop the opponents with a hamburger part. Here are the scorings:

- Drop 1 opponent: 500 points;

- Drop 2 opponents: 1000 points;

- Drop 3 opponents: 2000 points;

- Drop 4 opponents: 4000 points;

- Drop 5 opponents: 8000 points;

- Drop 6 opponents: 16000 points!!

post-24681-0-15754900-1316344568_thumb.png

4) Try to drop at least 1 opponent with a hamburger part at the top WITHOUT shooting the PEPPER. To do this, let at least one of the opponents moves behind you until Frank, Yolk or Dill reaches a hamburger part which is going to be dropped by Chef Pete. But BE CAREFUL: DON'T let the opponents touch you.

5) BONUS PEPPER: Each time you collect a bonus item (Ice Cream, Coffee or French Fries), you earn 1 additional pepper.

6) PEPPERS: Try to keep at least 5 peppers in reserve for emergencies, specially for Level 6 (and every multiple of 6), which is more difficult to complete (of course, easier to get trapped by the opponents. Try to collect bonus items as many as possible in order to accumulate more peppers, but losing this bonus item is better than losing a life; so, don't worry if you can't pick French fries, Coffee or Ice-cream. Here are the scorings:

- 500 points: Ice-cream;

- 1000 points: Coffee;

- 1500 points: French fries.

7) You DON'T need to take a screenshot before completing 1 million points, because the scoreboard on Atari 7800 Beef Drop has 7 digits and you can score until 9,999,950 points before rolling. Please, note that the screenshot showed below refers to Beef Drop WITHOUT SKILL OPTIONS. ALSO, NOTE THAT THE SCORE SHOWED BELOW DOESN'T COUNT!!

Yeah, this is the version we all should be playing. :)

I got that from the previous HSC mod.

I played that ROM the last 2 or 3 times we played Beef Drop.

ADDITIONAL BEEF DROP TIPS (ROM version used by Roadrunner):

1) DIFFICULTY OPTIONS: For those who are going to play Beef Drop for the first time, choose "EASY" game mode; then pass to "NORMAL" and higher difficulty levels. This game has a special version for children, i.e., you can choose "CHILD" game mode to learn how to play. You start the game with 10 Peppers on "CHILD" mode, and 5 Peppers on "EASY", "NORMAL" and harder game modes.

2) TEST YOUR SKILL: In order to test your coodination, my suggestion is to try HARDER GAME MODES - HARD & EXPERT.

3) BONUS LIVES: You earn an Extra Chef Pete for every 10K points on Child & Easy Game Mode, 15K points on Default Setting (Normal), 20K points on Hard Difficulty and 25K on Expert.

I got the rom from the romhustler.net website, it's their fault for having the one and only older version...

plus AtariAge's Beef Drop downloads are blank/nothing there :(

We shall still play the rom posted here, you can also play the other Beef Drop, just select the "NORMAL" difficulty.

I think we should all play the final ROM dated july 18th 2006 that i posted in post #8

It's more difficult than the one from 2004.

Look at the difference in the scores that were posted so far.

The Beef Drop score in the all time record thread is from the final ROM version not a demo from 2004.

Here's the link to a thread about this game,

the last ROM was posted in post #352

Sorry, been sidetracked working on Frantic and Chun Li.

Just checked and I do have Beef Drop, but it's "Beef Drop VE". Not sure what the VE means, so I don't know if it's OK to use it. If it is then I'll squeeze in some 7800 time.

VE means it doesn't have the onboard Pokey chip so the sound isn't as nice. Gameplay is identical.
